The bakehouse
Everything here is made in this kitchen.
The McKearny family took over the bakehouse in 2002, six years after the idea was first put on paper. Since then the ovens on Oracle Road have turned out bread, muffins, pastries, pies and celebration cakes for Oro Valley and the rest of Tucson.
There is no central commissary and no truck arriving at dawn. What is in the case is what was baked here.

Pick a counter. Every one of them is stocked from the ovens behind it, and the selection changes with the day.

Tiered, floral, ribboned and hand-piped. Bring us a photograph, a colour or just an idea — consultations are by appointment, by phone or at the counter.

Breakfast, coffee and the first bread
The doors open at seven Tuesday to Saturday, eight on Sunday. Pastries, muffins and coffee are ready; the first bread comes off the rack through the morning. See breakfast.
Cakes and pastries to take away
The case is at its fullest. If you want a whole pie or a box of pastries for later, say so when you arrive — it is easier to set one aside than to come back for it. See pastries.
Lunch
Soups, salads and sandwiches alongside the bakery counter. The board is written that morning, so it is worth calling if you are coming for something in particular. See lunch.
The quiet hour
The last of the bread and pastries go out, and the kitchen turns to the next day's orders. Good time to talk about a cake or a catering tray without holding up the counter. See catering.
